To Art, or Not to Art

Day three being stuck mostly in bed. I realized that I haven't worked on any art in about a week! I love being creative, but sometimes, it really takes a toll on me. I love doing it and I can focus on drawing or painting for hours at a time. It may seem at odds with what the lay person perceives art to be. Isn't art supposed to be fun? That is a frequent question I get from students. The answer is yes, and no. If you are a Bob Ross, weekend hobby artist, or the type that loves a great painting party with wine and friends, then art is fun! Absolutely! But if you are a professional artist, making art uses your brain differently and it is stressful-- not necessarily bad stress, but definitely stressful.

Stress and myalgic encephalomyelitis are a disastrous combination.

Anyhoo, not the exciting blog post I would like to present you with, but I have a treat planned for you tomorrow. I have two novels in progress and a color pencil portrait nearly complete. My goal is to post an excerpt from one of the novels or possibly the completed color pencil portrait.

I am going to the DMV to get a handicap placard in the morning. That activity is the main factor as to what I will post tomorrow. Fingers crossed it does not zap all of my energy! ;)

Until then, be well my friends and keep those hands making art!
